The History of the Heart

The cg heart has become an icon for the brand ever since Caroline started hand making cards back in 1993.  The first card range featured icons made from wire; specifically a house, a baby pram and a heart.  The heart cards were always the most popular, and 30 years later this signature shape continues to be a firm favourite.  Read on to discover more about how the heart has evolved over the years.

Not just stationery, the heart shape has been used as an all-over print on accessories, homeware, bags and luggage.  Caroline has always designed using fun, unexpected colours and placement.

Our ranges continued to expand into kitchen textiles and our design team experimented a bit more with the heart shape in our Crafted collection.

As well as bright, unexpected colours, we added a metallic finish to the heart across our stationery and accessories ranges.

In 2019, we launched a Summer tote bag featuring an all-over outline version of the heart print.  The shape still recognisable, this charcoal and white heart offered a fresh, new print.

Our brand new product range offers bright, bold orange hearts that contrast well with a cool khaki.
