Egg dyeing is a fun Spring activity and perfect for the whole family to get involved. What's even better is that you probably have everything you need to make them in your kitchen already; just some eggs, food colouring, white vinegar and clear glasses.
Once you've gathered all the ingredients, it's time to get dyeing! Follow the steps below.
hard boil your eggs
Place the eggs in a saucepan of boiling water and pop a lid on top. Let them boil for around 15 minutes-you want to make sure they are really hard boiled! If you want your eggs to last for a while, you can also blow out the middle of the egg.
prepare your dye
You'll want a different glass for every colour you want to use. In each cup, pour in a half cup of boiling water, a teaspoon of vinegar and the food colouring of your choice. Use between 10 and 20 drops of food colouring, depending on how dark you'd like the colour to be. You can make nearly any colour with just red, yellow and blue, so there's no need to buy more colours than you need.
dye the eggs
Set up your cups with the dyes, and pop an egg in a whisk, one at a time. Lower the whisk and egg into the dye, and let it sit there for 10-15 minutes. The longer the egg sits in the dye, the more vibrant the colour will be.
leave them to dry
Remove eggs from the dye, and pop them back in their box or on a paper towel. Once the eggs are dry, they are ready to be hung up our put on display!
