Caring for Your Cashmere
Our cashmere is combed from the goat’s undercoat, making it one of the finest and highest-quality fibres available. This delicate material requires extra care, but if looked after properly, your garment can last for years.
Washing Guidelines
You can either hand wash or dry clean your cashmere. Always check the care label for specific instructions.
Note: Some cashmere items are dry clean only due to the dyeing process. Hand washing may cause colour transfer, so please follow the label's recommendation.
Pilling
Pilling is natural for cashmere over time. Small balls (pills) can form on the surface and can easily be removed with your hand or a cashmere comb.
Storing Your Cashmere
As a natural fibre, cashmere is vulnerable to moths. To prevent moth damage:
- Store your knitwear in a breathable zip garment bag with cedar balls.
- Air your knitwear once a month by shaking it out.
- Do not hang cashmere, as this can stretch and distort its shape. Always store it folded.
If you detect moths:
- Wrap your cashmere in acid-free tissue paper, place it in a plastic bag, freeze overnight, and allow it to defrost slowly.
Hand Washing Guidelines
1. Turn your garment inside out and submerge it in lukewarm water with a cashmere, wool, or silk detergent.
2. Soak the garment gently, swirling the water without rubbing, wringing, or stretching it.
3. Rinse thoroughly with clean water until all the soap is gone.
4. Press gently to remove excess water, avoiding any squeezing or wringing.
5. Short spin (max 2 minutes) at 400 rpm in the machine on a low spin setting, ensuring no heat. Do not tumble dry.
6. Dry flat by laying the garment on a clean towel, reshaping it while damp. Keep it away from direct heat or sunlight.
Tip: Roll the garment in the towel to absorb excess water if it's still heavy.
Important Tips – Do Not:
- Use hot water
- Hang your knitwear
- Use regular fabric softener
- Tumble dry
- Rub, wring, or stretch your garment
- Iron your cashmere
