Learn how our ceramics are made

Designed in London and hand-painted by skilled artisans, our plates are crafted with care at every step. Discover more about how each piece comes to life...

Every season, our design team work to weave in the iconic heart design that’s the signature of our collections, whilst bringing inspiration, new prints and a fresh palette.

Each of our ceramic pieces has a unique journey, starting with a filtered, purified clay base. This can be developed from a roll of formed clay pressed into moulds for more symmetrical shapes, or by 'slip pouring' liquid clay into moulds for more adventurous and irregular forms, such as our scallop-edged plate.

Next up, it's off to the kiln! In this toasty environment, the plate gets its first firing, where it toughens up and transforms into a bisque - porous, sturdy plate, ready for some colour.

Now, this is where the real fun begins… Talented artists hand-paint each plate with vibrant splashes of colour and add the playful wording you’ve come to love in our designs, using a wax resist process.

The plates take one last trip to the kiln for the finale. Here, the glaze melts into a glossy surface, fusing perfectly with the ceramic body and sealing in all the artistry.

Once they’ve cooled down, each plate gets a careful inspection before the finished plates are packaged up and sent to our warehouse, ready to bring a splash of joy to your table or gifted for a special occasion.
