It's World Meningitis Day - Lighting the tracks ahead
This World Meningitis Day, Meningitis Now are collaborating with GWR to light the tracks ahead – to a future where nobody in the UK dies of meningitis and all those affected get the support they need to rebuild their lives and as an avid supporter of their wonderful work, we went along for the ride!
On Tuesday, a very special train left Cheltenham, heading for London Paddington with some very important passengers on board. A group of incredible Meningitis Now supporters bravely shared their stories to press and TV crews to help Meningitis Now save lives and rebuild futures this World Meningitis Day. President of Patrons and Ambassadors, Lisa Snowdon welcomed them at Paddington and shared her own story at a reception to celebrate the campaign and highlight the work still to be done. This World Meningitis Day Paddington Station will be lit up in Meningitis Now orange to mark the day and raise awareness of the disease.
Our partnership with Meningitis Now began when founders Caroline and Angus Gardner chose the charity almost 20 years ago, having had a personal experience with the illness when their then 6 months old son, Sebastian contracted Meningococcal Septicaemia. Thankfully he recovered and the family looked to help raise awareness and fundraise in the form of Caroline’s specially designed Christmas cards. To date we've raised over £280,000 and are excited to share that our Christmas cards are ready to buy here.
